The appeal to Owners of single source responsibility, guaranteed maximum price, and the prospect of faster delivery has resulted in a tremendous growth in the design/build delivery process over the past 20 years. As a result, design/build has grown to nearly a third of the total project revenue at SPA, resulting in an in-place construction value of approximately 300 million dollars annually.

Our success in D/B projects is a direct result of our knowledge of the value the SER can bring to the D/B process. Some of these values include:

• Early involvement; combining the expertise and experience of the Contractor with our experience and state-of-the-art design tools to investigate several design options and select the most appropriate.
• Direct lines of communications between the SER and Contractor; help generate simpler, safer and more economical solutions.
• Recognition that the SER represents the critical path; critical decisions and details are worked out early with all parties, allowing early foundation and steel bid packages and avoiding costly redesign or even reconstruction.
• Enhanced quality control; selecting only ethical partners and arriving at better and more constructible design decisions lead to safer structures, better performance and more satisfied Owners.
